Born and raised in the Bronx. Good Family, bad neighborhood. Inquisitive, fearless and headstrong. I got into a lot of trouble. I made a few mistakes and many bad decisions. We all go through our phases and for a long time, I was stuck in a negative state of mind. But I wasn't happy about the way I was, or the feeling I created in other people. After some serious reflection, I decided not to let my past deeds define who I am or where I'm heading. While I was in prison, I started making leather bags as a way to keep to myself while simultaneously being creative and productive. I spent most of my days in the prison leather shop. On one wall there was a large picture window looking into an art room, where I observed several artist painting and drawing phenomenal works of art. Some drew from their imagination, others could duplicate anything they saw. I brought some of their artwork outright, then eventually commissioned several artists to ideas I wanted to see brought to life. The result of some of those collaborations are the books and paintings posted on this site. After expressing ideas and aspirations, we realized that most of us wanted the same thing. More than anything, we wanted to move on. We want to make positive contributions to society, give our family and friends something to be proud of and teach others how to turn their passions into something lucrative. Thus, becoming part of the solution. I think life is about balance, we've done bad. Now it's time to do some good. I know this bio is supposed to be about me, but the truth is that I couldn't have achieved any of this by myself. It took a dedicated team of amazing people every step of the way. To those of you assisting us on our journey, I owe you more thanks than I could ever express. From the people who helped build the foundation to every person who purchased a book, a piece of artwork or just took the time to read what I have to say. I couldn't have made these changes without you. Thanks again. ~ Calieb Barnes
Born and raised in New York, after graduating with a bachelor's degree from Wagner College in Staten Island and hanging my football cleats up, I made a life changing decision to move to Ohio. As a financial manager for the US Air Force, I had my hands pretty full with adjusting to my new life. One day I get a call from my father that my cousin that I knew very little about had an idea that would change my life for the better. How does one say no to family? After long nights and countless hurdles, my cousin and I have developed a business plan that is much bigger then making children's books for years to come. We've decided on being the voice of the voiceless. There are many talented people caught in the system because of a lapse of judgement. Where they are now is not the end of their story.
Family operated, helping people set and achieve their goals in low-income neighborhoods, at risk youths, prisoners, and inspiring artists. We welcome all creative artists/ authors but mainly try to focus on helping people change negative circumstances. What better occupation could one have than something that will bring smiles and laughter to people of all ages for generations. We hope our products will become keepsakes, saved and passed down through the years. Our children's book could very easily become just that!
